Tran Chi Obituary

Tran Thuc Chi, 71, of Olympia, Washington, died on Wednesday evening, September 6, 2006, at Providence St. Peter Hospital after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke on August 26, 2006. Born in the province of Ha-Tinh, Vietnam on November 15, 1934, Mr.Tran studied law and also served as a police captain while in Vietnam. After immigrating to the United States in 1975, Mr. Tran worked for the State of Washington before opening the Saigon Rendez-Vous restaurant with his wife, Mui Thi Nguyen, in 1987. Mr. Tran was a tireless community worker within the Vietnamese Mutual Assistance Association (V.M.A.A.) and the Vietnamese Community of Thurston County. His empathic nature and buoyant smile of enthusiasm will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his former wife, Mui T. Nguyen, of Olympia; their three children, daughter, Tran Tran, of Renton, Washington, son, Linh Tran, of Olympia, Washington, and daughter, Trang Tran, of Chicago, Illinois; and one granddaughter, Tia Vu, of Renton, Washington. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road S.W., Tumwater. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker Street S.E., Lacey, Washington, with a reception to follow at Mills & Mills Funeral Home.
