James L. Slough
April 2, 1927 - October 16, 2017

BOURBON - James L. Slough from Bourbon, passed away on Oct. 16, at Miller's Merry Manor in Warsaw.
Jim was born April 2, 1927 to Lawrence and Lillian (Jenkins) Slough.
On Feb. 19, 1955 he married the former Florence Stidham who preceded him in death on April 25, 2015. 
Surviving are one daughter, Kerry J. Slough, Bloomington; one son, Steven J. and Shari Slough, Bourbon. Grandchildren; Blake, Kai, Kaci and two great grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by brothers; O. Thomas (Tom), Robert (Bob), Richard (Dick) and sister Jean.
Jim was a lifelong Bourbon resident. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He had 48 years combined veteran and postal service with 28 years as postmaster of Bourbon. He was a Veteran of WWII, Korea and spent 8 years in the Navy Reserve. He was past president of the Indiana Chapter of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States (NAPUS), and also past president of the Indiana Chapter of Retired Postmasters. He was also charter member and past commander of American Legion Post 424, Bourbon; and charter member and Chef-De-Gare Passe Marshall County 40 & 8. Jim belonged to the Bourbon First United Methodist Church where both he and his wife sang in the choir. He was also a black bely in Tae-Kwon-Do. After retiring from the post office he was part owner and worked at the Etna Pub. 
At Jim's request there will be no services.
