CHARLES O. MAINES JR.

1940 - 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Charles O. Maines, Jr. announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 82 years old.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1940 in Philipsburg, a son of the late Charles O. and Melva (Rowles) Maines.

Mr. Maines was employed as a truck driver for 47 years. He retired from WalMart, for whom he drove truck from 1993 to 2009.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield and also a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 540, Clearfield.

Charles will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Sherri Centra of Clearfield, Pamela Whinnery and husband Jeffrey of Ellenton, Fla., Frank Maines and fiancee Sherri Sortor-Thompson of Clearfield, and Jo Maines-Lowman and husband John of Clearfield; five grandchildren, Kari Wilsoncroft and husband Jamie, Shannon Moyer, Justin Centra, Danielle Zurin and husband Adam, and Ashley Jo Lowman; and four great grandchildren, Juli Centra, Leighara Wilsoncroft, Eli Zurin, and Mabrey Zurin; and a sister, Anita Jean Caughell of Newark, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, R. Jeannette (Triponey) Maines on Dec. 15, 2020 and whom he wed Nov. 24, 1957 in Kylertown. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Esther McKedy; and a brother, Floyd Maines.

Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Robert J. Way officiating.

Private interment will be at the Historic Crown Crest Cemetery, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 3-6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1454 Clearfield, PA 16830; or the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 540, 301 N. 2nd St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
