Thomas Bell Obituary

MAHAFFEY - Thomas A. Bell, 86, of Mahaffey, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 at Penn Highlands Hospital in DuBois.

He was born in Clearfield on March 20, 1938, to the late Willard and Adda Bell.

He attended Purchase Line High School and graduated with the first class of graduates in 1956. Tom previously volunteered with the Mahaffey Ambulance Association as an EMT and was the former Assistant Chief of the Mahaffey Fire Department. He served on the city council and was the former mayor of Mahaffey. He worked as a wheeled loader operator for Benjamin Coal Company for many years. Tom attended Banner Ridge Community Church and was a social member of the Mahaffey VFW Post 8709 and the Masonic Lodge.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Frank Sherwood, Dave Kitchen, and Cheyenne Rice for their care and compassion.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Gregory (Mary Ann) Bell of Mahaffey, and Brian (Kendra) Bell of Summersville, W.Va.; brother, James (Ed) Bell and sister-in-law, Connie Bell; grandchildren, Michael Bell, Tucker (Heather) Bell, Bridget (Brent) Conklin, Tiffany (Corey) McFadden, Wyatt (Kenesha) Bell, Wade Bell, and Lillie Bell; great-grandchildren, Karter, Chase, Colton, Jaxon, Tucker Marie, Mason, Ty, and Mira Belle. He is also survived by his faithful furry companion, Pudgy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie K. (Lydic) Bell; his son, Gary Thomas Bell; siblings, Joan Brink and husband Bill, John (Jack) Bell, Art Bell and wife Kay, Phil Johnston and wife Ethel, and sister-in-law, Edna Bell.

Per his wishes, there will be no services. Tom's final resting place will be at the Mahaffey Cemetery.

The Waldron Funeral Home of Mahaffey has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu flowers, donations can be made to the Mahaffey Fire Department, Mahaffey Cemetery, or the Banner Ridge Community Church.

So sorry for the families liss, Tom was a great guy, when I worked for D&G store he would always come in with a smile & talk to me for awhile, he loved to pick that's for sure, but I waited for him everyday to come in..gonna miss you my friend, Rest in peace..
