Robert "Bob" Lee Miller
Hagerstown - Robert "Bob" Lee Miller, 78, of Hagerstown, MD passed away, Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Born November 4, 1942 in Rohrerville, MD, he was the son of the late Leonard and Lovetta Miller.
He was retired from Mack Trucks after 30 years of service as a Journeyman machine repairman.
He served in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion receiving his 50-year membership certificate this year.
He was a member of The South Mountain Rod and Gun club.
He was an avid Yankees fan. He started coaching baseball at the age of 18 in Rhorersville. He later coached Valley Little League Baseball for over 25 years. He led many young men and women to league championship victories with his teams collecting over 20 league and District championship trophies. His favorite motto "We didn't come here to lose". After retiring from coaching his passion for baseball continued. He enjoyed taking his son Jason and wife Beverly to watch his grandchildren Jackson and Jared playball every season.
His springtime passion was hunting the great Morel Mushroom. "River Rooms". A family tradition that started with his own children and continuing with grandsons Jason and Jesse.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and special golf outings with best friends Craig Meredith and Courtney Beard.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Beverly Miller, he is survived by his children. James Wiedman of Hagerstown. John and Char Wiedman of Clearspring, Brenda Miller and Dan of Hagerstown, Michelle Miller and Ray of Rocky Ridge, Bobby Miller of Springmills, WV, and Jason Miller at home.
Surviving grandchildren: Megan Wiedman, Amanda Fishack Pryor, Bryan Fishack, Ameila Fishack, Jason Wolfe, Jesse Thorpe, Lyric Owen, Colton Owen, Jackson Miller and Jared Miller.
10 Great Grand Children and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by brothers, Marvin Miller and Harold Miller. Sisters Ruby Miller and Thelma Maught.
Memorial donations can be made to the Smithsburg Blue Crab baseball team and Valley Little League.
In lieu of flowers the family request that a fruit tree be planted in Bob's memory.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
