John was always considered the backbone of his family's generation, along with his brother Sam. Their example of a Syrian-American family as leaders in their community and the area will be remembered by all of us who go back far enough.
I can remember when John's grandmother was brought back from Syria in the 1950's by John's mother and Uncle Charlie. She lived across the street part of the time at Charlie's house and sat and watched we children playing. That is great family tradition!
