Robert Spier Obituary
He was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Pulaski County to Charlie and Cleta (Miller) Spier.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and retired as a heavy equipment operator from Columbia Quarry. He was a member of Anna Elks Lodge and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Dailey of Mackinaw; one son, Robert M. Spier of Marion; three grandchildren, Michel Wright of Lick Creek, Crystal Gurley of Alto Pass and Alexa Spier of Marion; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence Spier of Columbia, Bill Spier of Dupo and Henry Spier of Belleville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Howard.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, in Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. Interment will be in Mound City National Cemetery with a ritual team composed of area veterans and the Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Debbie and Bobby I am saddened to hear of your dad's passing. I remember how much fun he was to be around when we were kids and he and my dad were building houses together.
