Mary Brown Atnip

Cody, WY - Mary Brown Atnip passed away in Cody, Wyoming on Sunday, December 27, 2015.

Mary was born in Urbana, IL on July 12, 1938. Her family moved to Yorktown, IN when she was a young girl where she attended Harrison High School. She married Truman Atnip in 1957 and they eventually settled in Hartford City, IN, where they raised their family of six children. Mary loved to cook, read, garden and visit the elderly.

Mary is survived by her son, James (Marilene) Atnip of Cody, Wyoming; daughter, Laverna Soucie of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Linda (Christopher) Hamilton of Grand Rapids, MN; Michael (Ellen) Atnip of Baltic, OH; Terry (Robyn) Atnip of Lander, WY; brother, Joseph Brown of Knox, IN; sister, Darlene Collins of Muncie, IN; nineteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truman Atnip; brother, David Brown; brother, John Brown; brother, Aaron Brown; son, Raymond Atnip; and son-in-law Tony Soucie.

A funeral service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St., Yorktown, IN with Bro Leonard Sankey officiating.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Gideon's International @ www.gideons.org, or KOFG Old Fashioned Gospel radio @ www.kofgfm.com.

The Gant and Miller families are honored to celebrate the life of Mary with her family and community.
