Robert D. Kern, 78

MUNCIE - Robert D. Kern, 78, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born to Charles E. and Mary Eloise (Dawson) Kern on September 2, 1936 in Muncie and graduated from Royerton High School in 1954.

Robert was a co-owner of Precision Printing for several years.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge #33, Sons of AMVETS, Hoosier Cruisers and the Central Indiana Old Car Club. Also, he enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing golf.

Robert is survived by his wife whom he married February 5, 1955, Patricia (Redmond) Kern; daughters, Alicia (Wayne) Zearbaugh, Karen (Bob) Erk, and Kay (fiance', John Wilkerson) Miller; brothers, Keith (Carol) Kern and Richard (Jayne) Kern; sisters, Joanne Terrell and Sandra (Larry) McKinnon; sisters in-law, Judy Kern, Noreen Russell and Kathleen Gruwell; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Kern; son in-law, Gil Miller; brother, Jon Kern; brothers-in-law, Bill Gaskill, Donn Russell, and Clint Terrell.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Eldon Morehouse officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 and from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300 Rockville, MD 20852.
