George Moluf Obituary

CHARLESTON - Mr. George A. Moluf, age 95, of Charleston, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010, at his residence.

Friends and family of Mr. George A. Moluf are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 888 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403. Burial will immediately follow IN Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family of Mr. Moluf will be receiving guests from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

George A. Moluf was born April 15, 1915, in Charleston, SC, to the late Elias Suleyman Moluf and the late Zahia Dahrouge Moluf. He founded Moluf Supply, Inc. in 1941 and remained president until his death. Mr. Moluf was a graduate of Bishop England High School, a member of the Knights of Columbus #704, and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was known for his love of horses, and was an original member of the Middleton Place Hounds. Mr. Moluf was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Coast Guard. His passions in life were spending time with his family, his work, and horseback riding. He will always be remembered for his enthusiasm for life, positive attitude and gentle spirit. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Olga Shahid Moluf, his son, George Anthony Moluf Jr. (Jody), three daughters, Renee Moluf Betros, Linda Moluf York (M.O.), and Susan Moluf McDaniel (Preston), his grandchildren, Patricia Gilfillan Caddell (Scooter), Jennifer Betros Curl (Stephen), Stephen E. Betros Jr., Christopher P. Betros (Alex), Lynne Gilfillan Tart (Brandon), Preston F. 'Tripp' McDaniel III, George Anthony 'Trey' Moluf III, Sarah Josephine Moluf and Katherine Olga McDaniel, and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Moluf was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Moluf Shaheen, and brothers, Joseph A. Moluf and Edward Moluf.

The family would like to thank Mr. Moluf's caregivers Lillie, Betty, Roberta, Marie, Mary, Helen, and his driver George, for their devoted care that was given to him.

Memorials may be made in Mr. George A. Moluf's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 North Danny Thomas Blvd., Memphis, TN 38105 or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 888 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403.
