Mrs. Warren I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. Warren . As long as I can remember you were our neighbors and best friends of my mother and father. I still remember the last time I came to your house at Millpond and sat and visited with you both. I don't ever get to Columbia anymore but if I do anytime soon I'll try to stop by and visit for a while. Lee Pulliam Sutcliffe Beaufort, SC

“Miss” Betty,

Warm thoughts, heartfelt sympathy and love come with this note. As you know, you and John have a special place in my heart.

I’ll always remember the Junior Achievement student that kept John’s business card in his wallet the four years he was in college. The young man never forgot John’s words: “If you ever need anything, call me.” He never had to call but John Warren gave him the confidence he needed.

We all know John was an excellent role model, great business leader, and civic volunteer. We also know he was a born salesman and South Carolina benefited from his talent. Of course, I know his life story since my Bob wrote the corporate history of SCANA and also our work on LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP. However, my fondest John memories are the love and attention he gave you. His eyes even twinkled when he talked about “Miss” Betty. The serious businessman became the little boy from Paducah , Ky. when he talked about you.

We both know nothing prepares us for the loss of someone we love. We also know love lives forever.

I’m remembering you in my prayers.

Dianne

John was a visionary and he generously contributed his expertise to countless organizatons and many enterprises. As a leader in the natural gas industry, he was a uniter, bringing people together for the greater benefit. As a person, John embodied that famous Will Rogers quote..."I never met a man I didn't like." He and Betty were a perfect match, and Pat and I extend our condolences to Betty and family. By knowing John and Betty, our lives were greatly enriched.

South Carolina has lost a great man, friend and true leader! It was my honor and privilege to work with Mr. Warren during his term as Chairman and then Secretary of the SC Department of Commerce and the SC Coordinating Council for Economic Development. Mr. Warren worked tirelessly and without compensation to improve and promote economic development in the Palmetto State

Mr. and Mrs. Warren have devoted their lives to serving South Carolina, their adopted home. Their many acts of kindness and generosity have touched and enriched so many lives, including my own! I deeply treasured Mr. Warren's friendship!! He will be missed!

Heartfelt sympathy is extended to Mrs. Warren and family. My heart aches for you during this difficult time!
