Mr. Whipple died Thursday, April 12, 2012. Born in Queens, N.Y., he was a son of the late Bernard Payne and Emily Teresa Esposito Whipple. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. A graduate of the University of Miami, he was a self-employed home builder.
Surviving are his sons, John B. Whipple Jr. (Renee) of Gaston, Joseph T. Whipple of West Columbia; sisters, Mary Schultes of New Port Richey, Fla., Donna Cipley of Levittown, N.Y.; granddaughter, Rachael Brahm of Lexington; and grandson, William Joseph Whipple.
