Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Levi C. Pate and Minnie Gardner Pate.
Mrs. Peeples was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Trinity Fellowship class and the UMW. She graduated from Columbia College and received a BS degree in home economics. She was secretary and treasurer of B&R Lumber and Supply Company, Inc. in Bishopville, S.C.
She was a member of the Garden Makers Garden Club, the Homemakers Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Lioness.
Surviving are her husband of Sumter; two sons, David D. Peeples of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Robert F. Peeples of Bishopville, S.C.; two daughters, Derbiana P. Bowers and husband Grover F. Bowers III of Okatie, S.C., Margaret “Marce” P. Warner and husband Robert E. Warner, Jr. of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren, Grover F. Bowers IV, Hunter T. Bowers, Margaret E. Bowers, Jacob P. Warner, Lawton P. Warner and Hamilton C. Warner.
She was preceded in death by a son, John R. Peeples, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 17 W. Charlotte Avenue.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to Columbia College, Patsy Way Causey Scholarship Fund.
