Stephanie Black Obituary
Mrs. Black died Thursday April 28, 2011. Born in Hampton, SC, she was the daughter of Reverend Stephen D. Vassar and Cathy Bennett Vassar. Mrs. Black was a gifted singer and a member of Olive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Black is survived by her daughter, Sydney Grace Black of FL; parents; sister, Faith Elizabeth Vassar Kendall and her husband, Jason Kendall of Columbia, SC; nieces, Lucie and Leola Kendall; aunts and uncles, Linda and Doug Elkins of Hampton, SC, Sybil and Tommy Woodward of Charleston, SC and Cindy and Donald Mixson of Georgetown, SC.

I remember Stephanie. She was kind to me. She had a sweet personality. I used to attend NCBC. No matter how long she was away, when she returned to visit she always remembered my name and my family members. I really appreciated this. It showed thoughtfulness and consideration on her part. I miss her. I offer my condolences to her family and friends.

I am soo sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts. I have said it before there is no greater pain then the one of out living your child. Just remember the great memories she Brought you all and that will help cope til u see her in heaven. I keep praying for all of you. God Bless

Pastor Vassar, Mrs. Cathy, Faith and family you are in my prayers. Sorry for your loss; I remember Stephanie singing beautifully with CHOSEN at church. A Beautiful personality inside and out. May God cover your family.

I am sorry to hear of this sad news. I worked with Stephanie for a few months in downtown Columbia and I remember many conversations we had about her love for Christ. I know that this is such a hope for you in the face of this heart break. Praying for your family.

Mr. and Mrs. Vassar and Faith, I am Rusty and Kaylen's mom, and I was crushed to hear the news. Stephanie was a great step-mom to my kids, and was a great supporter to Chip when we were going through a rough time with Rusty. I will continue to pray for y'all and Sidney. I am so sorry for your loss.
