Theodore Mack Obituary
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Bible Way Church, 2440 Atlas Road, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Serenity Gardens, Columbia, SC. Rev. John Lakin and Rev. Ellis White will be officiating.
Pallbearers are Joseph O’Neill, Roderick Starks, Eric Finch, Rodnick Shell, Robert Lee, III, Duane Sebastian.
Mr. Theodore Oliver Mack, also affectionately known as “Teddy,” began his short lived legacy of life March 6, 1991, at Bon-Secours Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. He was born of Theodora Mack Byrd and Joseph O’Neal Mack. He was the beloved son of Ernest and Theodora Byrd residing in Columbia, South Carolina.
On Friday, May 29, 2009, Teddy was called to his eternal home by his heavenly father. He embarked upon his educational quest in the Richland County Public School System, where he attended A.C. Flora High School. As a young child he joined Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ in Charleston, South Carolina. He attended Bluff Road United Church of Christ in Columbia, South Carolina.
Teddy was very popular in the community. He gained celebrity status on MySpace and was well known for his love of music, exceptional talents in baseball, and making others smile. Teddy loved his mother’s cooking, especially her macaroni and cheese and strawberry cake.
Teddy was a generous person that enjoyed his family and friends.
All is sad within our dwelling and lonely are our hearts today, for the one we loved so dearly has forever passed away. Although Teddy’s presence will be no more, he will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, warm personality and generous nature.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his parents; Ernest and Theodora Byrd of Columbia, South Carolina; his father, Joseph O’Neal Mack of Columbia, South Carolina; his brothers, Ernest Mathew Byrd, III of the home, Logan Mack of Columbia, South Carolina; his maternal grandmother, Twilda Bennett of Charleston, South Carolina, and his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth P. Mack of James Island, South Carolina; paternal aunts, Linda M. (Ivan) Brewer of Denver, Colorado, and Ray Ann M. Kornegay of Summerville, South Carolina; four paternal uncles, Larry Byrd of Hopkins, South Carolina, Morris Byrd of Eastover, South Carolina, Eric (Sandra) Mack of Roanoke, Virginia, and Oliver Mack, Jr. of James Island, South Carolina; three godfathers, Ralph E. Freeman of Charleston, South Carolina, Donnie Brown, Sr. of Columbia, South Carolina, Max Watson of James Island, South Carolina; two godmothers, Monica Simmons of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Katrina Freeman of Charleston, South Carolina; godparents, Howard and Anne Sebastian of Columbia, South Carolina; special extended family, Robert (Shemonia) Lee, Jr.; big brothers, Duane Sebastian and Robert Lee, III; special aunts, Thelma Henson of Eastover, South Carolina, and Michelle Cannon-Finch of Hopkins, South Carolina; beloved family pet, Kane Byrd and a host of loving cousins and friends.
Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Leevy’s Funeral Home, 1831 Taylor Street, Columbia, SC . A wake is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Friends may call at the residence of his parents, Ernest and Theodora Byrd, 80 Hamptonwood Way, Columbia, South Carolina.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dash Funeral Home, 997 Amelia Street, Orangeburg, SC, and Leevy’s Funeral Home of Columbia.
