Columbia, South Carolina - LCDR Charles West Jacocks III, US Navy (Ret.), 86, of Columbia, died on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Born in Columbia, SC, on February 12, 1937, he was a son of the late Charles West Jacocks, Jr., and Helen Fewell Jacocks. He was a graduate of Dreher High School and later graduated from the University of South Carolina having earned a bachelor's degree in business. Mr. Jacocks served 20 years in the US Navy Reserves. His professional career spanned over 4 decades and began as a lineman for Southern Bell that later became management positions and ultimately a district manager and later lobbyist for BellSouth phone company. Charlie and I were in the NROTC together. He was on the NROTC basketball team and was the most valuable player. He could score!. We also served in the Naval Reserves. Charlie was a good golfer and played many years in the NROTC tournaments. Above all, he was a fun guy to be around. Shipmate, fair winds and following seas. We will miss him greatly.
