It has been two years since Al passed away. I know he looks down on us and smiles. He is missed. Prayers for Beverly and the family.

To the friends and family of my dear friend Al.
I became friends with Al in 1972 as land surveyors. We were not connected by our professions alone. We enjoyed our friendship as sailors and woodworkers as well.
If you knew Al, you can appreciate his legacy that we all admire and know well. Here are some of the highlights of that legacy.
Al's family was first and foremost in his life and I know you will miss him beyond belief. I share your grief at the loss of my good friend.
I believe that every surveyor in South Carolina has benefitted because of Al's leadership. Al treated all of the many employees and clients of Whitworth and Associates with his highest regard and I never heard an unkind word spoken about him.
Although I was not a member of the sail club, I can bear witness of his devotion to that organization. Your banner flies on the ceiling of Foxy's Bar and Grill on the island of Jost Van Dyke of the BVI's courtesy of Commodore Al.
Although we were divided geographically in our later years, our frequent telephone conversations kept our friendship alive.
I sincerely regret not being there to express my personal thoughts to the family in there time of sorrow, but know that I have lost a very dear friend.
Rest in peace brother and we can renew our friendship on the other side.
With kindest regards, Carol Baughman

I have such good memories of Al from our student days at BC High School. We reconnected on Facebook some years ago, and he and my late husband, Furman, became friends on FB through shared experiences as business owners and similar political beliefs, although they never met in person. My sincere sympathy to Beverly during this time of grief and adjustment.
