James Robert Tuttle, 86, went home to be with his Lord early Saturday morning, Dec. 10, 2022, at his home. Robert was born in Stokes County, on Sept. 15, 1936, to the late Charlie and Martha Stephens Tuttle. He was retired from Roadway Express with 30 years of service and was a member of Pine Ridge Primitive Baptist Church where he served as Cemetery Chairman, Church Treasurer and many other positions in the church. Robert loved fishing, camping, boating and had a strong work ethic. He was a volunteer at Stokes Reynolds Hospital for more than 14 years. Robert served his country proudly in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Noreta Stone Tuttle; sisters, Faye and Patricia; brothers, Leon and Charlie Jr. and son-in-law, Joe Hart. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Hazel Shelton Tuttle; daughter, Tonya T. Hart; stepson, Donovan Moore (Lessa); grandchildren, Carlee Cavagnari (Gino), Cory Moore and Addison Moore; great-grandchildren, Dycinn Bolen, Sara Bolen and Xzayvier Bolen; sister, Betty T. Priddy and brother, Phillip Tuttle (Avis). There was a 2 p.m. funeral service held on Monday, Dec. 12, at the Burroughs Chapel with Elder Gleason Worrell, Pastor AJ Reynolds and Hospice Chaplain Rev. Drew Southern officiating. Burial followed at Pine Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The family received friends from 12:30-2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home. Online condolences may be made at www.burroughsfuneralhome.com. Hazel, I am so sorry to hear that Robert has passed. He loved the church and his Lord, and it was evident that he loved you. What a blessed memory. May the Lord bless and give all of you peace and comfort.
