Edward Richardson Obituary

Edward A. "Buzz" Richardson, Jr., age 88, most recently of the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield and a resident of North Attleboro for over 50 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Janet K. "Jan" (Hesla) Richardson, to whom he was wed on April 19, 1965.

Born in Attleboro, MA on October 27, 1936, he was a loving son of the late Edward Sr. and Mary (Cone) Richardson.

Buzz grew up in West Mansfield and was a standout athlete, graduating as a member of the Class of 1954 at Mansfield High School. He continued his studies at UMass Amherst, earning a bachelor's degree in physical education. While at UMass, he lettered in lacrosse, football, diving and wrestling and had the distinction of being the first, modern 4-sports athlete in the school's history.

Prior to retiring, Buzz was an owner and former president of Charles A. Richardson, Inc., in West Mansfield, a family-owned business founded in 1853 that mainly manufactured metal stamping products. Buzz was ever so proud of the company's involvement in the production of metal baseball cleats.

Buzz will always be remembered for his love of family, his remarkable sense of humor, and his magnetic personality. He was a natural for making those around him laugh, even the generals he drove and entertained while serving in the United States Army.

Naturally athletic, Buzz loved sports in general but was especially passionate about playing golf. He was a longtime member of the Foxborough Country Club and shot multiple holes-in-one. His other hobbies included collecting coins and entertaining others with magic card tricks.

In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Andrea B. O'Brien and her husband Tim of Wayland and Susan E. Tayebati and her former husband Parviz Tayebati of Wellesley. He was the cherished grandfather of Katie, Julia and Emily O'Brien and Alexander, Aidan, Weston and Tristan Tayebati. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved Persian cat "Bubbles."

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, December 15th from 2:30-3:30 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

A celebration of Buzz's life will continue on Sunday, December 15th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Foxborough Country Club, 33 Walnut Street in Foxborough.
