Gary Woodward Obituary

Gary (Ralph) Lennox Woodward, 72, of Wrentham, passed peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on March 6, 2021.

Born in Brockton on May 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Gordon L. and Agnes C. (Johnson) Woodward. After graduating from Sharon High School, Gary served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He worked many years as a welder in the metal fabrication field. He was an avid reader, NASCAR fan, and was involved in the restoration of antique cars and trucks. Gary most enjoyed spending time with his close circle of friends and family, deep in lively conversation.

Gary is survived by a brother, Wayne Woodward of Wrentham; a sister, Jennifer Bishop and her husband Richard of Wrentham; a nephew, Jeffrey Bishop and his wife Patti of Bellingham; a niece, Mary Bishop and her husband Christopher Rose of Plainville; a great nephew, Christopher Rose, Jr. of Plainville; and great nieces Emily and Megan Bishop of Bellingham.

Visitation will be held on Saturday morning, March 13th from 10-10:30 AM in the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Covid-19 guidelines will be followed, including mask requirements and social distancing. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield, RI.

I was recently told of Gary´s passing after returning from my 3rd deployment. I now understand how he felt when he would share about his deployments when I was a kid. I am sorry I didn´t get to see him before he passed. I´m sure he is visiting my mom having a smoke and a laugh. Take care Gary! Little Harvey and I will miss you! Hooah!
