Shirley Evelyn Weir

1938 - 2021

Shirley Evelyn (Roy) Weir, 83 of Mansfield, entered into eternal glory on Wednesday, Dec. 1st, 2021 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was the much adored wife of the late Paul A. Weir (the love of her life) to whom she was married for over 65 years. Born Aug. 31st , 1938, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Roy and the late Evelyn (Monroe) Carr. A MA resident her entire life, Shirley attended schools in Bristol County. Some employment through the years included Whiting & Davis, Oscod, Maples Retirement Home and Stop & Shop. Her most cherished role was that of wife, mother and grandmother and she excelled at creating a beautiful home. A woman of great faith, she loved her savior Jesus. Throughout different seasons of her life, Shirley enjoyed horseback riding, bicycling, roller skating, camping, boating, board games, dancing, reading, traveling, ceramics class and playing bingo. She enjoyed costume parties and was "genius" in her creations. Family meals/gatherings were her greatest joy. She played in a bowling league for many years, served as an assistant Girl Scout Leader and was an active member of the Mystic Club in Mansfield. Shirley is survived by her beloved children, Daniel Weir and his wife Patti of Corinth, VT; Karen Rebola and her husband Michael of Riverside, RI and Jeffrey Weir of Mansfield; as well as four grandchildren, James Bonin and his wife Angela of VA, Jason Weir of Attleboro, Luke Bonin and his wife Heather of Rehoboth and Brett Palmer of NY. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren and her siblings; Arthur Roy of Attleboro, Anna Coy of KY and Cindy Elderkin of VT along with many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, Dec. 11th at 5:00 pm at Church of Abundant Life, 135 New Meadow Road, Swansea MA. The service will be a joint memorial for Shirley and her husband Paul Weir, who passed 8 days prior. A coalition will immediately follow.
