Steven Erickson Obituary

Steven Carl Erickson passed away from complications of Parkinson's Disease on Friday, December 12, 2025, with his wife, Jean, by his side.

He grew up on dairy farms in New England and New York. He loved playing sports and was a soccer star in high school.

After graduating from high school, he earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Buffalo where he also met his wife of 54 years, Jean.

He was drafted in 1970 and served in the US Army stationed in Germany.

Upon completing his military service, he went back to school and earned a master's degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University.

In 1978 he joined the family business as part owner of Swanson Construction in Attleboro, MA where he also served more than 30 years on the city planning board, chairing the board for many of those years.

Steve was an active person who loved playing sports of all kinds – handball, racquetball, tennis, basketball (playing on the Fossil league), and golf. He especially enjoyed rooting for his favorite football team, the Buffalo Bills.

A lover of pun-studded "Dad jokes" he was quick to lighten the mood of any situation and set everyone at ease. He exuded kindness and found joy and humor in all things, delighting everyone lucky enough to be in his orbit.

Steve's greatest joy was found in family and friends, who will miss him beyond measure.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, three children, Brian (Uiara), Keith (Tara) and Harley (Sara), three grandchildren, Atari, Isabella and Gigi, his sister Joy (Chris) Skeers and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Gertrude and his older sister Paula (David) Butler.

A funeral service for Steve will be held on January 17, 2026, at 1 pm, at the Beacon Covenant Church, 841 North Main St., Attleboro, MA, followed by burial in North Purchase Cemetery.

A time of visitation and fellowship with the family will follow at approximately 2 pm in the fellowship hall of the church. Family and friends are invited to attend.

The service will be livestreamed and will be available on the church's You Tube page: https://www.youtube.com/@BeaconCovenant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (michaeljfox.org) or the Beacon Covenant Church (https://www.beaconcov.org/give)
