JOE MCLEMORE SR.
ALTON — Joe B. McLemore Sr., at the age of 84, departed this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, to be with loved ones in heaven. He received his eternal rest at his home that was built by him and his brother, Austin.
He was born March 17, 1931, in Bells, Tenn., the youngest son of the late Ollie and Bessie (Barnett) McLemore. Joe moved to Alton in 1948 with his mother and two of his three brothers. Joe was employed at Conagra (formerly Peavey Flour Mill) for 42 years, retiring in 1991. He was an avid fisher, hunter, and loved traveling.
He met his wife, the former June B. Connors in 1949. They were married on May 27, 1950; she survives. To this union four children were born: Bonnie Fox, Joe Jr. (Tiny), Brian (Renee') and Marc (Yvette) McLemore. To cherish his memory are 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mary and Gertha McLemore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Austin (Mac), Lawrence (Tee) McLemore and JC Weeden. Joe was also preceded in death by his son, Brian McLemore, and his in laws, Odell Fox, William (Dilly) Connors and Ella Campbell.
Per his request a visitation only is being held from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Harrison Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery. Pastor Diane Williams will officiate. Guest registry and condolences are available: www.harrisonfuenralchapel.com.

June and Bonnie
we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
