Christopher P. Beahan, 58, of South Abington Twp., died Wednesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center following complications from a brain injury, surrounded by family and close friends. His wife of 33 years is Patricia Venetti Beahan.
Born in Scranton, son of the late James and Ann Beahan, he was a 1987 graduate of Penn State University and employed by Maid-Rite as a business development manager. He was a member of the Church of St. Gregory, where he served on the Pastoral Council and as an ambassador and Eucharistic minister. He attended daily Mass where his empty seat will be noticed.
As a Penn State graduate, he enjoyed attending Penn State football games as a season ticket holder with his wife and close friends, where he could be found at the Orange Flag Black Dot tailgate. He also enjoyed attending Pittsburgh Pirates games and watching the Washington Commanders. He was a cross country and track runner for West Scranton High School and continued his love for running post-high school, completing many road races, including 11 marathons, including the Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Steamtown, New York City and Boston marathons. He enjoyed sharing his love for running with his children, who both ran in high school and after, where he would travel hours to support them. He also volunteered at local high school track meets and spent some time as an assistant coach at Abington Heights. Chris enjoyed going on annual family vacations to the beach, spending holidays with family, including his dog Ginger, and sharing funny (and often lengthy) stories. One of his favorite things to do was spend time with and help his neighbors and friends, of which there are many.
Surviving are his children, Meghan L. and fiancé, Brad S. Eckersley, Portland, Maine; Micah J., Northeast Kingdom, Vt.; brother, James P., Scranton; sisters, Ann Judith, Ledyard, Conn.; Amy Barth and husband, Gerald Jr., Torrington, Conn.; Kathleen and husband, Travis Hurst, Williamsport; and Colleen, Scranton; nephews and nieces, Patrick and Stephen Finucane, Johnathan and Penelope Beahan, JT Barth, and Alice and Maxwell Hurst.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John P.; and sister, Patricia A.
The family would like to thank Geisinger Community Medical Center and staff in the ICU for their care. They also would like to thank the neighbors, friends and family that have been supportive throughout this difficult time.
