Daniel Anuszewski, 79, of Dickson City, went home to visit God and his family on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024.
For those who knew Daniel, they knew him as a kind, caring, compassionate individual who was willing to help anyone at anytime out of the kindness of his heart. Many of you will remember Daniel from the time he spent sitting on his porch talking to his neighbors, friends and family. Also, many of us will remember Daniel as a tried-and-true Montreal Canadiens fan (Go Habs), which Daniel humorously has imprinted on his burial stone.
Daniel was also known as a wonderful son to his parents, Chester and Nancy Anuszewski, and the best brother anyone could ask for to his brother, Chester. Throughout his life, Daniel was a graduate of Dickson City high school and discharged with honors from the U.S. Naval Academy. Among Daniel's many accomplishments, he took the most pride in being a kind, loving, and accepting uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He would always be seen at everyone's sporting events and other events regardless of the time or place.
Daniel leaves behind his brother, Chester and wife, Loretta; and his two nephews, Chester and wife, Stephanie; and Chad Anuszewski and wife, Maria Anuszewski. He also leaves behind a plethora of great/grandnephews and nieces that include Emma Anuszewski, Jonathan Anuszewski; Chester Anuszewski and wife, Missy Anuszewski; Kiana Anuszewski, Lily Anuszewski and her fiancé, Nick (as well as Lily's two cats whom he adored); Sharon and Jeff Price; Miyha Pliska and husband, Adam; Robby Pliska, Lexi Pliska, Isabella Pliska, Ian Anuszewski, Nichole Anuszewski, Carson Anuszewski, Cooper Anuszewski, Logan Anuszewski and Jackson Anuszewski.
Daniel also leaves behind an extensive family including the Matechak family and Shalasta family and many others. Included was his closeness to the Holeva family, whom the Anuszewski family sends a great debt of gratitude for always being "family" in our hearts.
Daniel will be painfully missed by all. We will remember him as the kind, caring, loving family member and friend who was always there for everyone in times of joy and times of pain. Daniel can now rest in peace with his Savior the Lord and his family in Heaven.
Daniel's funeral will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, with Divine Liturgy at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Blakely at 10 a.m. Friends and family may call at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Inurnment, St. Andrew's Cemetery, Blakely.
