David J. Engles Sr., 68, of Scranton, died Wednesday morning at Mountain View Care Center. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Ann DeAntonio.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Miller Engles.
David grew up in the Keyser Valley section of Scranton and was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Before his retirement, he was employed at Flowserve Corporation.
David was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was also a caring and loving friend to many. He loved being with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching football and boxing, and listening to music. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his son, David Jr. and wife, Laura, Pottstown; a daughter, Erica Engles-Senak and her husband, Kyle, Scranton; grandchildren, Hayley and Norah Engles, and Rory Senak; brothers, Dennis and Mark Engles; a sister, Deborah Needham; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Verespy and Cindy Engles.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Nicholas Chomko Funeral Home, 1132 Prospect Ave., South Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
