Florence A. Haddix

Florence A. "Cookie" Haddix, Scranton, died Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Boris Witkowski, Florence was a member of St. Patrick's Church and educated in Scranton public schools. She owned Cookie Inn Scranton, and was employed by Luce Luggage. Before retirement, she was a manager at Spotless Cleaners.

Cookie was a past member of the Waldorf Social Club, enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises with her mother, trips to Atlantic City and the casinos. The past few years, Cookie spent much of her time with Richard and Marion and their dog, "Buddy," at Lake Ariel.

Florence was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald Haddix, Moscow; and James Haddix and wife, Anne, Scranton; a daughter, Joanne Stokes and husband, William, Scranton; a brother, Richard Witkowski and wife, Marion, Lake Ariel; seven grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Logan, Jimmy, Nicole and Frank Haddix and Robert Osborne; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Haddix; and a brother, Frank "Butch" Witkowski.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
