Pete Rosemergey, of Jermyn, died peacefully Tuesday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore after a brief illness.
Born July 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Mabel Thomas Rosemergey and James P. Rosemergey. After graduating from Jermyn High School, Pete joined the United States Army as part of the 11th Army Airborne Division serving as a paratrooper.
Pete attended cabinetry school and was gifted with many talents related to mechanics, electrical, plumbing, building and remodeling. In the evenings he could be found working in his garage restoring cars and lawnmowers. Neighbors will remember cars lined up in the driveway awaiting his attention. Pete had an excellent work ethic and was meticulous with his home, yard and flower beds.
Pete had a great sense of humor and loved music, especially country western and polkas. He enjoyed playing his guitar, organ, harmonica and accordion, and occasionally, could be heard yodeling. Over the years he entertained the neighbors with his varied musical selections broadcasted from his garage.
Pete was a foreman at Hendrick Manufacturing Company, then managed the Fuller Estate in Dalton for many years until retirement.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Jermyn. Pete was a devoted brother, father, husband and friend. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, of 27 years; his brother, Gail and wife, Shirley; daughters, Lori Burian; Lisa Chmil and husband, Terry; Maridean Beichler and husband, Bill; and Rebecca Rosemergey; and stepsons, Kenneth, Steven, Brian and Jason Demuysere. Also survived by his grandchildren, Katherine Burian; Nathan Beichler and wife, Casey; William Beichler and David Beichler; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James P. Jr. and wife, Sally; Delmarwade; and nephew, James P. III.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Freda and the Hospice of Sacred Heart staff for their attentive care. Special thanks to the Colachino family, neighbors and friends for their love and support.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn, with Eric Watkins, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Uncle Pete will be missed. I and my husband, Chuck and boys - Chris and Wes have many fond memories from our trips to PA to visit the folks. Uncle Pete always was interested to hear how our son Chris, who is on the autism spectrum was doing. At the same time he loved hearing about our son Wes and his advanced educational endeavors. Always quick witted and ready to spin a tale. He enjoyed talking shop with myself and my husband ("doctor" shop!). He was keenly interested in the latest medical news.
So, for one of my fondest memories:
I remember when Uncle Pete and my Dad, Gail- conned me into letting them install my upgraded car stereo system in my first car. Several days later after water fights, singing and generally carrying on - it was finally done. But, they kept the old huge knobs instead of the sleek new ones- never really knew what the real story was there! Ha!. When the old car gave out- the first thing they asked me was- "did you get the stereo out of it before you sold it?!"
Wishing we could be there to be part of his send off. Lots of love to you- Elaine and to my cousins- Lori, Lisa, MaryDean and Rebecca. And to my Dad and Mom - who will miss his company on their porch this summer.
Hope you can feel a big hug from KC.

Lori,
I am sorry for the loss of your father.
In reading his obituary I couldn't help but see a lot of your father in you as he seemed to be a master of many trades. His timeline in life was certainly full. Hoping all is well with you.
