Julie Smith Obituary

Julie Ann Smith, 52, of Cherry Ridge, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital. Her husband of 11 years is Eugene Buki.

Born Dec. 16, 1958, in Honesdale, daughter of the late Peter F. and Olga Malti Smith, she was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1976. For 25 years, Julie drove a truck for Hanson Aggregates. She loved all animals and enjoyed taking care of her many pets, which she took in and adopted. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Honesdale.

Also surviving are a brother, Dale Smith and wife, Margaret, Cherry Ridge; a stepdaughter, Karen Marie Buki, Quakertown; two aunts, Eva Panfili, Cherry Ridge; and Genevieve Odom, Baltimore; a niece, Clayre Smith; two nephews, Ryan and Zachary Smith; many cousins and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalen Church. As per her request, cremation will follow at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald and private interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday, 4 to 7 p.m., at Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale. Condolences may be made online at www.hes slingfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Guardians of Mercy Animal League, 156 Cricket Hill Road, Hawley, PA 18428; or Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, PA 18431.
