My deepest sorrow goes out to the most thoughtful and caring neighbors anyone could ever hope for especially Jerry, Carol, and Matt Smurl; my deepest sorrow goes out to the rest of the Smurl family during this most difficult time around the holidays especially Lindsey's Grandmother, and Ryan her companion. Lindsey was more than just a neighbor; she was a friend. Her presence will greatly be missed when garden season starts in the end of spring because she won't be around to admire my garden, and receive the first gigantic zucchini from the garden. This past summer, Lindsey cooked this chubbiest zucchini from my garden, and she left none for Ryan. Also, I remember when it was Matt's recent birthday; she was so determined to get him to answer his apartment door, but he never answered it when I was outside with her. Jerry, I can cry when I think about what she had in mind to do this upcoming summer with you. She wanted to grow tomato plants, can the tomatoes from the plants, and use the canned tomatoes to make home made spaghetti sauce for dinner with the family on a Sunday night. Lindsey talked very highly about her Grandmother's garden this past summer whenever she would stop by to talk, and see my garden. Lindsey loved watching my apple trees grow from baby plants. Carol, you can't forget how your kitchen would smell of garlic after she was done cooking in it. Lindsey will be deeply missed. It has been a privilege to have had her as a neighbor and friend for almost eight years; I am glad to have the opportunity to share these memories with you during this difficult time.

Jerry, Carol, Matt, Ryan, and all of the Smurl Family. I send my deepest sympathy to your family. I'm so sorry to hear about Lindsey who will be deeply missed. She was such a beautiful young woman who lit up the neighborhood when she would pass by, and great with kids. Gone to soon. Rest in peace Lindsey...
