Maria Giuseppe Colosimo of the Providence section of Scranton died Friday at Allied Services Hospice Center following a brief illness. She was the widow of Giuseppe Joseph Colosimo, who died March 26, 1992.
Born in San Mango D'Aquino, Provincia di Catanzaro, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Leopoldo and Filippina Bonacci Puteri. Before her retirement, she was employed in the local garment industry. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Church until its closing, now a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish.
Surviving are a son, Phillip Colosimo; two daughters, Latizia Perri and husband, John, and Mary Jo Sacco and husband, Pasquale, all of Scranton; granddaughters, Carol Siciliano and husband, Michael, and Maria Sacco; grandsons, Antonio Sacco and Giovanni Sacco; great-granddaughter, Giavanna Siciliano; two sisters, Frances Manfredi, and Natalie Lupia and husband, Arnold, all of Dunmore; a sister-in-law Anna Puteri; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Perri; brother, Frank Puteri; and brother-in-law, Eugene Manfredi.
Family and friends may pay their respects Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. All attending are required to have a face covering and to social distance. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum.
