Marie Evans

Marie Evans of Scranton died Jan. 13 at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte, N.C. Her husband, Bert Evans, died in 1995.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Margaret McGrail Kingdom, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a teller at Third National Bank in Scranton for many years. She was a member of St. Ann's Basilica, Ladies of the Elks, Scranton Canoe Club and other organizations.

Surviving are a son, Richard Evans and wife, Paula Walls, Durham, N.C.; a sister, Jean Everett and husband, Homer, Bradford; two granddaughters, Karen Norton and husband, Mark, Charlotte; and Jennifer Johnson and husband, Tom, Danville, Calif.; two stepgrandchildren, Lindsay Walls, Santa Monica, Calif.; and Patrick Walls, Durham, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Katherine and Evan Norton and Logan Johnson; two nieces, Carol and Terry; and two nephews, Mark and Kyle.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Joanne Nealon Evans.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. from the Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St., Taylor, with services by the Rev. Michael Salvagna, C.P., pastor of St. Ann's Basilica, Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmburst.
