Martha C. Zilla, 93, of Montdale, passed away on June 9, 2021.
Born in South Gibson, she was the daughter of the late Gregory and Mary Secora. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen "Zip" Zilla and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Regina Tellip. She was the loving mother of Christine Vernau and husband, William, Stephen "Zip Jr." Zilla and wife, Linda, and Martin Zilla. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Jason Vernau, Tara and Travis Smith, Gina and Chris Killiany, Marisa and Andrew Wnuk. One of her greatest joys in life was becoming a great-grandma to Logan, Scarlett, Haley, Brooks and Contessa who will miss their "Old Grammy" tremendously. Martha also had a special "inherited" son, Enrique Rexach; a very close caregiver, Dawn Wisneski; and good friend, Romaine Stracham.
The Catholic Church was very important to Martha. She was a Eucharistic minister and member of the St. John Vianney Parish. She was a seamstress for most of her life.
Any time of the day, you could find Martha sitting at her kitchen table enjoying a cup of coffee waiting for a visitor to chat with. If she wasn't sitting, she was busy cooking up some delicious food or baking some treats.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney's Church in Montdale. Burial will be at the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart who our family can't thank enough for their wonderful care and kindness during this time.
