Mary E. Herron Ogonosky, of Taylor and formerly of the Greenwood section of Moosic, passed away Wednesday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Mary was a devoted wife to her husband, Edward, for over six decades. Together, they built a strong and loving family, creating cherished memories along the way.
Born on March 5, 1938, in the close-knit community of Moosic, Mary touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, compassion and unwavering love. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Mary Davis Herron and was a 1955 graduate of Moosic High School. Being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was the most important role to Mary, cherishing each moment. She was a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish. In her spare time, Mary loved to garden and most recently keeping up with all her friends and family on Facebook. Mary's legacy of love, compassion and strength will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Although she may be physically gone, her spirit will continue to inspire and provide comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, Edward (Cindy), Hanover Twp., David (Francine), Roaring Brook Twp., Ann (John) Chiaro, Edgewater, Md., Michael, Old Forge, Karen (Edward) Andrade, Jacksonville, Fla., and Susan (Christopher) Mursch, Scranton; 14 grandchildren, Nicole, Andrea, Matthew, David, Jessica, Angela, Christine, John, Erica, Derrick, Brian, Beth, Alex and Rich; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert, Old Forge; and a sister, Shirley Nelson, Taylor; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and William; and two sisters, Frances Ames and Helen Werner.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mary's funeral, which will begin Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home LLC, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Paul A. McDonnell, O.S.J., pastor. Interment, St. Mary's Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
