Rocco Ciullo Obituary

Rocco N. Ciullo, 92, of West Scranton and a resident of the Gino Merli Veterans Center, died Thursday at Commonwealth Hospice Inpatient Unit at Regional Hospital of Scranton, following a brief illness. His wife of 61 years was the former Margaret Castelgrande. She died on Nov. 5, 2003.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Carmine Antonio and Benedetta Montella Ciullo. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he proudly served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Independence. Before his retirement, he was the owner and proprietor of Mallard Sportswear, Vermont Sportswear, Packard Outlet and Providence Pants. He was the original owner of the Pasta House and La Trattoria restaurants. He was a member of the Victor Alfieri Club and of St. Lucy's Church.

Rocco was known as the "Former Bundle Boy to Owner."

Surviving is a daughter, Benedette Bishop and husband, Dennis, Winter Haven, Fla.; son, Carmen Anthony Ciullo and wife Judith, Scranton; five grandchildren, Jason, Brent, Ryan, Gina, and Jenna; two great-grandchildren, Xavier and Kylie; and a sister, Anna Moore, Scranton.

He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Joseph, Phillip Sr., Gabriel, Peter, Antonio and Anthony J.; and three sisters, Phyllis Padden, Grace Robertson and Marie Moore.

The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday from the Patrick F. Guido Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 949 Church St., Scranton. Interment with military honors to follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Lucy's Church Restoration Fund, 949 Church St., Scranton, PA 18504.
