William (Bill) Baron Sr., 66, of Taylor, passed away Friday at PAM Specialty Hospital in Wilkes-Barre after an illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte (Breig) Baron. The couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary Aug. 18.
Born in Scranton on March 5, 1955, and son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Masters) Baron, William was a graduate of the former Scranton Central High School. A longtime driver for Insalaco Markets delivery team, he ultimately retired from AWI Trucking.
Bill was certainly active and always on the go. He absolutely loved to play golf, and for years he was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was an avid traveler, especially with Charlotte by his side, taking cruises, their annual trip to the Outer Banks and anywhere else life led him. He loved a good dinner out and never met a glass of wine he didn't enjoy.
Above all else came his family, especially his adored grandchildren who will forever miss their papa.
He is survived by his son, William Baron Jr. and wife, Christine of Duryea and stepchildren, Amy Odzana and husband, Robert of Moosic, John Decker of Old Forge and Joey Decker of Taylor; grandchildren, Adison, Riley, Chase, Julianna, Bentley and Sammy; his former wife and friend, Trish Yacko of Covington Twp.; siblings, Joseph Baron of Throop, Barbara Garvey of Scranton, Christopher Baron and wife, Susan of Vandling and Robert Baron and wife, Lisa of Phillipsburg, N.J.; many nieces and nephews.
Blessing services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 10, at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in South Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 10 a.m. until services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital c/o 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Please visit the funeral home's website for directions or to leave a condolence.
