Barbara M. Susan Marine City Barbara Aellen McKinney Susan died peacefully in her Marine City, MI home on Friday, October 9, 2009, at the age of 56 years, after living with cancer since 2003. She was born on August 6, 1953 in Hartford, Connecticut, a daughter to Betty (Boynton) and Lewis McKinney and re-born a child of God and member of Jesus Christ through Holy Baptism. Barbara attended high school in Pleasantville, NY and was also an exchange student in South Africa and Germany. She did her undergraduate study at the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH with additional work at the School of Divinity, New College, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, earning her Masters Degree in business at St. Francis University, Fort Wayne, IN. Barbara was employed by the Scott Paper Co. in Fort Wayne, IN and later in Dallas, TX where she later worked in marketing for the Dallas Business Journal and the Dallas Opera Theatre. She also worked as secretary to the rector at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Dallas, and later as staff publisher. She was a staff singer at the church as well, and sang for many years also in the Dallas Symphony Chorus. In 2000 she was united in marriage in Dallas with Daniel Susan. As a singer, she performed regularly at "Scarborough Faire" Renaissance Fair and in several other early music performance groups, including an appearance on PBS's television show "Wishbone". Barbara was the founder of the online business 1st Webkeeper.com, which offered website maintenance for non-profits. She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Marine City, and an associate member (Oblate) of St. Augustine's House Lutheran Monastery, Oxford, Michigan. Barbara is survived by her husband, Daniel of Marine City; her father, Lewis McKinney of Pleasantville, NY; and her brothers, Doug (Lynda) McKinney of Atlanta, GA and David (Margaret) McKinney of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harlan Buckner in 1995; and her mother in 2008. Funeral and burial will be at St. Augustine's House Monastery, 3316 Drahner Road, Oxford, MI 48370, on Monday, October 12, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., with Father Richard Herbel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Augustine's House, P.O. Box 125, Oxford, MI 48371. "Blessed are the dead who from now on die in the Lord".
