Eli Peresta Obituary

Eli A. Peresta Port Huron Eli A. Peresta, 88, passed away Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2010 in Port Huron Hospital surrounded by his family. He was a loving, compassionate husband and father who believed family was very important in life. He was born May 21, 1922 in Barberton, OH to the late Elek and Maria (Oniszko) Peresta. Eli married Mary Vodopia on May 30, 1942. He served in the Army during WWII from 1942-1946. He retired after 21 years of service at Midwest Rubber Co. as Vice-President in Deckerville, MI. He is survived by his children John (Christine) of Deckerville, MI, Sister Mary Anton of Toledo, OH, James (Orlene) of Davison, MI, Jerome (Marlene) of Sandusky, MI, Alex of Grand Blanc, MI, Melissa (Cliff) of Port Huron, MI; brother James of Barberton, OH, sister Margie of Shreveport, LA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Eli was preceded in death by his wife Mary, son Jeffrey, brothers Michael and John, and sisters Ann and Julia. Visitation will be Sunday, November 28 from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Croswell, MI, and at the church 10-11 a.m. Monday. Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 29 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Croswell, MI. Eli will be interred at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery in High Point, NC alongside his wife Mary, and son Jeffrey. Uncle Alex was a wonderful man. Carrying and loving husband & father. I remember the good times we had with him. He always made us feel welcome in his home and welcomed me into the family when I married David. He was our children's Godfather also. Our sympathy goes out to the whole family. I will always remember Uncle Alex's beautiful smile and the love he had for the family and how he enjoyed getting together with the ol' Ohio clan. My heart goes out to all my dear cousins. May you find strength during this most difficult time.
