Flora Ann "Pee Wee" Shepherd Obituary

BURLINGTON - Flora Ann Hodge Shepherd, 88, passed away April 30, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Forest City, the daughter of John Hubert Hodge and Louise Williams Hodge, deceased.
Flora, "Pee Wee", moved to Burlington as a child and graduated from Burlington High School where she made many lifetime friends.
She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and a founding and loving member of the May-Lee Friendship Club.
Pee Wee is survived by her sons, John Robert Shepherd (Becky), Timothy Wayne Shepherd (Cindy); daughter, Julie Shepherd Moore (Bruce) of Charlotte; and sister, Jacklyn Hodge Harrison (Bobby); grandchildren, Shawnee Shepherd Gillespie, Leslie Shepherd Williams, Jack Allison, Will Shepherd, Brian Allison; and step- grandchildren, Steven Potts, Aaron Potts, Taylor Potts and Gillian Moore. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren.
It is impossible to remember the life of this vibrant and strong lady without thinking of how much she loved her children, their children, her lifetime friends, the Tar Heels and golf. We will forever miss our mother and friend but will think of all the funny jokes and wonderful times she shared with all of us. This world is a better place because she lived in it.
There will be a private family burial followed by a "Celebration of Life" service conducted by the Rev. David Huffman for all who wish to remember, Tuesday, May 3rd, at Grove Park Baptist Church at 2 p.m.
The family wishes to recognize and thank all of the special care givers and staff at the Twin Lakes Community.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Community or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell County.
Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington is assisting the family.
