Dexter Soileau Obituary

Dexter Keith Soileau

A memorial service celebrating the life of Dexter Keith Soileau will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Pineville with Pastors Ed and Jo Ann Cooper officiating. Eulogies will be given by Jose' Chavez and John Griffin. Visitation will be observed from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Dexter, 63, of Ball, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Dexter was born on July 17, 1952, in Mamou, LA, and grew up in Ball, LA, where he met and married the love of his life, and together they raised their daughters. Dexter was a graduate of Tioga High School. He attended Louisiana Tech University and Northeast Louisiana University. He had a lifetime love of music which stemmed from his time in the Tioga Jr. High and High School bands, the Louisiana Tech band, and the Tioga Mixed Chorus. His love of music continued as he sang in the church choir. In addition to his love of music, Dexter also loved being on the golf course, running his own business, and spending time with his family and close friends. Above all, most important to Dexter was his love for his Savior which was evident to all who truly knew him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

Dexter was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Geraldine Ardoin Soileau.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 42 years, Berdette Grimes Soileau of Ball; sister, Sherry Soileau Toney of Ball; daughter, Noelle Soileau and husband Nathan Kinder of Alexandria; daughter Lauren Soileau LeBoeuf and husband Michael of Pineville; grandchildren, Patrick LeBoeuf, Peter LeBoeuf, Joselin Soileau-Kinder, Cecelia Soileau-Kinder, and Evangeline Soileau-Kinder, and a host of other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made in Dexter's memory to the First United Methodist Church of Pineville Music Ministry or Orphan's Promise at www.orphanspromise.org.

Berdette,

Please accept my utmost condolences for the loss of Dexter. I know that this is a particularly dark time for you and your family.

I wish I had something I could state that would make everything ok. However, in reality, we all know that cannot be.

Nothing will ever replace your love and memories of Dexter, nor should it. While he is no longer with you in person, he will always be with you in your heart and your thoughts - in that sense he will never be totally gone.

I recall our times at Tioga as well as at Palestine UMC before we all pursued our life paths as adults. There were definitely some times to recall fondly.

Know that you and yours are surrounded by friends and loved ones who are there for you in spirit, if not in person. It is my sincere hope that as time progresses you will find comfort and peace.

As stated earlier, I know that this is a particularly dark time for you and your family. It is quite understandable that you are mourning your loss. Know that in time, the healing process will slowly, but surely start. As that healing begins, what has been an emotionally devastating loss will ultimately be a rock of strength. Indeed, it is usually the darkest before the dawn, but at some point there will indeed be a dawn.

Take time to take care of yourself, and take care of each other. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Kindest regards,

Mark Cole
