Peggy M. Van Zandt

Graveside services for Peggy M. Van Zandt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 with Pastor Jack Sawyer officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Peggy M. Van Zandt, 91, of Alexandria passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Emeritus at Alexandria.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the funeral home.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Robert W. Van Zandt; her parents, John and Mary McIntosh; brother, Donald McIntosh and 2 sisters; Elsie Barnes and Jessie Holleman.

Peggy was a member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church and a member of the Jackson Street Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for 25 years. Peggy was a Pink Lady at Cabrini Hospital for over 30 years. She was a board member and officer of the Alexandria Service League (Alexandria Junior League), Red Cross, YWCA and Rapides Women's Golf Association. Peggy was a member of Rapides Golf and Country Club and was an avid golfer and bridge player.

Peggy is survived by 4 children: John W. Van Zandt and wife Frances of Woodworth, LA., Bette McCorkle and husband Jim of Prattville, AL., Bruce E. Van Zandt and wife Mary Jane of Ruston, LA., Carolyn Brian and husband Dr. Greg of Pineville, LA.; 5 grandchildren: Thomas Van Zandt, Jason Van Zandt, DeAnna Williams, Steven Watson and Lindsay McCorkle and 7 great grand children.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Morgan Williams, Grant Watson, David Denley, Jason Van Zandt, Thomas Van Zandt, Steven Watson, Bob Smith and Joel Smith.

The Van Zandt family would like to thank Brittany, Sandy, Gloria, Tina and the Staff at Emeritus, Danielle and Allison with Compassionate Care Hospice, and Candice Sweazie for their exceptional care they showed our mother.
