William Fluke Obituary

William David Fluke

01/24/1987 - 02/16/2023

William David Fluke, a beloved member of the Marin County community, passed away on February 16, 2023, at the age of 36. Born in Nevada City, California, Will moved to Tiburon in the 6th grade, where he grew up and developed a passion for bringing people together. From a young age, Will had a warmth and kindness that was contagious, and his caring nature made him the perfect friend to have. He quickly became a leader within his circle of friends, always organizing adventures and events that would bring everyone together.

One of the things that Will graciously shared with others was his loving family, who welcomed his friends with open arms into their home. His mother and father were the cornerstones of his community, always happy to have a house full of kids and providing them with a safe and supportive environment to grow up in. It was either at Will's house or at Paradise Ice Cream that the Tiburon Crew would always meet after school, either on bikes or skateboards, to start any adventures that adolescent boys can dream up. Whether it was playing video games, listening to music, or just hanging out, Will's home was a sanctuary of warmth and love.

Throughout his life, Will continued to bring people together, whether it was in Tiburon, High School, Santa Cruz, or his home in San Rafael. He was famous for his positive outlook, loving relationships, and inspiring others. Will had a bright smile that could light up any room, and his kind heart touched the lives of so many. His devotion to his friends and family, as well as his commitment to helping those in need, live on through all of the lives he touched. Will's legacy as a loyal, loving friend and a passionate advocate for recovery will live on forever.

After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology as a student-athlete in Rugby from the University of California Santa Cruz, Will returned to Marin County in 2012 to begin his career with Reflections Treatment Facility in Novato. Will's hard work, intellect, and passion for recovery quickly propelled him to leadership positions within the organization. He then earned his Master's in Business Administration, specializing in Strategic Leadership, from the Barowsky School of Business at Dominican University in 2017. Will's leadership and vision for Reflections Treatment Center transformed the organization into a nationally recognized organization specializing in Dual Diagnosis Substance Abuse treatment. His compassion and love for others were felt by every person he helped to guide towards recovery. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Will loved sports and used his passion for athletics to help others. He organized the "Conscious Contact" softball team, where he brought together people from all walks of life to focus on fellowship, recovery, and family. Will's kindness, humor, and infectious spirit created a culture of inclusivity and helped his team thrive as they participated in tournaments around the state and held many practices and barbecues on the weekends. Will was also an avid snowboarder, spending countless hours in the mountains, where he found peace and solace in the snow. Will's presence in the lives of those he touched will be deeply missed. He was a beacon of hope and light for everyone who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift. William David Fluke will always be remembered as a loving, loyal friend, a passionate advocate for recovery, and a true inspiration to all. He is survived by his siblings Christopher Fluke, Elizabeth Fluke and Katherine Fluke, half siblings Tony Belissimo and Matthew Fluke, and a large extended family and circle of friends who will always cherish the memories they shared with him. What Will leaves behind is not engraved in words, but forever woven into the lives of others.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 19th at 2:00 PM at The Jonas Center at 1800 Ignacio Blvd, Building 19, Novato, CA in the College of Marin Indian Valley Campus.

I am very saddened to find about the loss of Will. I met him in 2017 when I moved out to Northern California. He was a pleasant person to be around and very kind hearted. My deepest condolences to his family and many friends that knew better than I did.

So sad to hear of Will's passing. I was his first nanny, hired soon after he was born to care for the kids. He was a happy little boy. I regret that I lost touch with the Fluke's but never forgot the many happy and fun times I spent with them, Chris, Katie, Lizzy and little William. I am so sorry for your loss.
