William Edward Favret Sr.

William Favret Obituary

Favret William Edward Favret, Sr., age 91, passed away August 5, 2016 at Mt. Carmel West. Bill was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. He was born on November 19, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Louis and Marie Favret. He graduated from Aquinas College High School and then served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he received his B.S. at The Ohio State University. After graduating, he began working for Favret Heating and Cooling. He worked there over 60 years and retired as President. He was very active in the industry having served as President of the Sheet Metal Contractors Association, Chairman of the Board of the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio and was inducted into the Hall of Honor for COACCA. He was also active in the community as a longtime member of St. Agatha Parish, President of the Optimist Club of Northwest Columbus, past board member of Scioto Country Club, past member of the Columbus Athletic Club and past member of Lexington Country Club of Fort Myers, FL (President of the Manhattan Club). He loved playing golf, tennis, waterskiing, boating, and painting. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Louis, sister Rita Marzolf. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jane McMillen Favret; children, William Edward, Jr. (Patricia) Favret, Jeanne (David Trujillo) Favret, Nannette (William) Newcomb, Judith (John) Friday and Philip (Joy) Favret; grandchildren, Nicholas (Alyson) Favret, Leigh (David) Felix, Geoffrey Newcomb, Caroline, Liam, Samuel and Maria Favret; great-grandchildren, Henry and Sophie Favret, Isabelle and Leilana Felix; sister, Joan (Tad) Wagenbrenner; and brother, Joseph Favret; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, 1860 Northam Road. Private burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise on the Scioto and Mt. Carmel Palliative Care for their compassionate care.
