Alice May Palmer, age 84, passed away at her residence November 3, 2005.
Alice moved to Ferndale seven months ago from her home of 53 years in San Mateo, CA. Widowed in 2003, after a 61 year marriage, she put down new roots and started over in her wonderful new community of Ferndale.
A devout Christian, she was already involved with her community, attending church, bible study, senior lunches and a women’s group as well as spending time with new neighbors over a cup of coffee and enjoying a slice of pie on her way back from the mail box or a trip up the Wild Cat. She had embraced Ferndale.
She attended church at both St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Ferndale and was participating in bible study at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She was a member and past treasurer of Shoreview Community Methodist Church in San Mateo, as well as a 50 year member, and a Past Chief Ranger (1984), of the Independent Order of Foresters, Peninsula Court, a fraternal organization.
One of her fondest memories was that she had the opportunity to sing as a member of the Billy Graham Choir during both of Graham’s San Francisco Bay Area tours, many years apart! She was an excellent seamstress and quilter and always could be counted on to work and sew for the sewing booth at her church’s bazaar.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Trujillo of Fortuna and son-in-law, Charlie; grandson, Michael Owen of Shelby, NC; and daughter-in-law, Cindy; as well as two great grandchildren, Tori and Brianna.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, 11/15/05 at 11 AM at Citizen’s Mortuary, in Ferndale, CA.

My condolances to Alice's family. She was such a sweet lady. I attend Our Savior's Lutheran church, and got to know her there. We had a little game going so we could remember each others' names. Our thoughts are with all of you.

I knew Alice at Shoreview UM Church where she was very active in the UMW activities; I was, also, during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was a pleasure to always see her smiling face at events.
