Granduncle Carl was always a kindhearted wonderful man. I wish that me and my brother had gotten closer to him and Greg. I remember seeing him and Maurice every year out at our farm in Hydesville, and every year at the Humboldt county fair since. Don't worry Uncle Carl or Maurice I'll look after Robert for you. I love you both, and know that you guys will be betting on the horses up in Heaven.

I used to talk to Carl every year during the 60s 70s and 80s at the fair - in fact myself and some friends almost bought a horse named "Funny Ribbon" from him around 1970. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, and will miss him.

Remembering Uncle Carl: When I think of Uncle Carl I think of him surprising people with gifts. One of my cousins received a little dog in a gift box at Christmastime one year, my sister received her first car from him to be ale to drive to college and work, I received mittens one time from him as a young girl for no special reason, he many times would bring salmon to my mom (his eldest sister) just to share because he knew it would be a treat for her. His love for his dogs. He and my grandmother (his mother) would fix chicken legs for their little dogs. And his chuckle...a one of a kind unmistakeable chuckle that was uniquely his. These are some of my memories of my Uncle Carl.
