Edna Monk Obituary

90, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2010 after a short stay in the hospital. A resident of the Annabelle House in Caldwell, Idaho, Edna was born on May 15, 1920 in Denver, Co. to Curly and May Sherred. She attended Colorado schools, was in the Glee club and played the bass in the high school orchestra. She graduated from Denver High School in 1938. She loved to sing and play the piano. She went on to become an office manager and accountant for various businesses in Oregon and California. She married Larry Carlyle McClane but they would later divorce. She married Brookie "Brooks" Monk in the early 60's and together they raised two children in Ferndale, CA. She was President of the Business and Professional Women's Association and worked for H&R Block for many years. In 2001 she moved to Caldwell, ID to be closer to her family. She brought with her the love of gardening and raised beautiful flowers and wonderful vegetables, which she gladly shared with everyone. She more recently became a member of the UT Club of Canyon County where she loved just "doing nothing" with the ladies of this social club. Edna was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Carlyle McClane, her second husband, Brooks Monk, her parents and numerous other family members. She is survived by her children; son, Larry (Karen) Monk of Caldwell, ID, Sherrie (Lynn) Bray of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren, Daniel (Gillian) Monk of England, Nathan (Kelly) Peper of Colorado Springs, CO, Tiffany (John) Marcum of Caldwell, ID; two step-grandchildren, Dawnise Carwin and Daniel Lousignont both of Caldwell, ID and 6 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people of West Valley Medical Center for the care and attention they showed her and her family during her final days. Edna was a wonderful person. I worked with her many years ago (40) at H and R Block. I was very young and had never had a job before. She took me under her wing, showed me the ropes and was always positive. I have never forgotten her. so very sorry for your loss. Elaine Gentry
