Lino G. Scalvini died peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the age of 80. Lino was born in Ferndale on June 24, 1925. He lived on the family dairy most of his life.
Lino looked forward to the big Scalvini family reunions every five years. He had a great love for Lawrence Welk and polka music. A special thank you to Bill McBride of Ferndale for the many hours he spends at St. Luke’s Manor playing music for the patients. Lino loved when Bill would dedicate a polka to him.
Lino is preceded in death by his father, Rocco Scalvini, Sr.; his mother, Giustina Scalvini; sister, Lucia Flocchini; and brother, Rocco Scalvini, Jr.
Lino is survived by his brother, James Scalvini and wife Mary; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Scalvini all of Ferndale. Nephews, Michael Meister, Henry Meister and wife Gayle, Joe Flocchini and wife Leana. Nieces, Katie Garrison and husband Orville, Lorraine Koepcke and husband Earl, Janet East and husband Jim, Cathy Scalvini, and Margaret Meister. Twelve great nephews and nieces and one great great nephew.
Pallbearers will be George Scalvini, Floyd Bettiga, Jim Bass, Michael Meister, Joe Flocchini, Jim East, Jason Shaha and Matt Shamblin.
A rosary will be held at Citizens Mortuary in Ferndale at 7p.m. on Sunday, July 24th. A funeral mass will be held at Assumption Parish in Ferndale at 11a.m. on Monday, July 25th. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ferndale with a reception following at the Assumption Parish School.
