It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deborah Lynn Buchanan (Stafford), a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Deborah was a pillar of strength and love within her family. Deborah passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on October 30, 1953, in
Indianapolis, Indiana, she lived a fruitful and fulfilling life that enriched the hearts of those around her. Early in life, Deborah's family made
Longmont, CO their home where she attended Longmont High School, Deborah's college days were spent at Cottey College in Missouri and later in life she attended courses at Valdosta State University. The knowledge and experiences gained through her studies enriched both her career and personal endeavors. Deborah's creative spirit also shone through her work as a graphic artist, interior designer, master gardener and blueberry farmer, where she applied her talents to bring beauty into the world. Beyond her professional achievements, she found joy in her passions, including skiing, cooking, painting, sculpture, gardening, offshore fishing, golfing and photography. These pursuits not only brought her personal joy but also allowed her to connect with others and share her zest for life. Her compassionate heart extended to her love for animals. Deborah had a profound passion for furry friends and dedicated time to fostering dogs in need. Her commitment to these animals reflected her nurturing spirit and added an extra layer of warmth to her already loving household. Deborah's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her existence, evident in her kindness and the grace with which she lived her life. Her artistic spirit knew no bounds. Alongside her numerous passions, she found joy in creating cherished moments with her children and grandchildren. Whether through shared laughter, storytelling, or simply being present, Deborah's love was a guiding light in the lives of those closest to her. Deborah and her husband, Bill, built their home in Adel together, a testament to their shared love and commitment. She poured her creative touch into every corner, designing and decorating the entire house to create a warm and welcoming haven for family and friends. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Deborah was a cornerstone of strength and love within her family. Deborah is survived by her beloved husband, William; her brother, William Stafford; her sons, Michael (Courtney) Buchanan, John Buchanan; stepchildren, William Buchanan, and Letitia (Jason) Gross; as well as her cherished grandsons, Hamilton Grey and Zayden, and granddaughter, Piper. She was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by her late parents, William and Carolyn Stafford. Deborah Lynn Buchanan's legacy of love, creativity, and faith will endure through the lives of those she touched. Her memory will be held in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. May she rest in peace. In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Deborah's love for animals, the family suggests that donations be made to Big Bones K9 Rescue in
