Albert Hingley Obituary

HINGLEY Albert Parker Hingley, 86, a native of Truro, Nova Scotia and resident of Henrico County since 1953, quietly ended this life's journey to be with his creator early Monday, February 12, 2007. The eldest son of William Alexander and Susan McCabe Hingley, also of Truro, Nova Scotia, he was predeceased by his parents and younger siser of one year, Marjorie L. Read and younger brother of seven years to the day, Russell John Hingley. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis McNutt Hingley; his seven brothers and six sisters, four sons and six grandchildren. His sons include, eldest son, James Parker Hingley and his wife, Debra J. of Hanover County, Va. and their daughter, Shannon Dawn of Montreal, sons, Brandon James M. a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University, Sean Parker, a senior at Virginia Military Institute and Daniel McCabe, a sophomore also at V.M.I.; his second son, Paul Robert Hingley of Richmond, Va. and his son, Albert Scott of Buenos Aires, Argentina; his third son, Brian Dennis Hingley and his wife, Audrey T. of Hanover County, Va. and their son, Robert Lee of Raleigh, North Carolina; and his youngest son, Scott William Hingley of Nelson County, Va. Albert served in the Canadian Army during World War II from September 2, 1939 to August 2, 1945. He took part in the D-Day invasion in Normandy France with his younger brother of two years, Ernest W. Hingley and also saw action in Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was also active in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he served as an instructor for several years and loved boating. In the late 1950s, he established, owned and ran a successful business under the name of Hingley Water Systems in Richmond, Va. He retired in 1986 and moved to Florida, where he and his wife resided until 2002 when they returned to the Richmond area. Albert was a person who could successfully put his hands to anything and had an uncanny gift for inventing and making problem solving tools, etc. He had a passion for geology, boating, history and making furniture as a hobby. The intricate, detailed and beautiful quality he employed in the finished product of his creations was admired and praised by all who saw it. His lessons of the value of quality and care for doing a job well have been passed down through his sons and grandchildren along with his witty sense of humor. A legacy for which we are all grateful. The family will receive friends at the chapel at The Virginia Home for Boys and Girls at 8716 W. Broad Street, Richmond, Va. 23294-6206 at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007, where a memorial service will be held to celebrate his life. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you in the passing of your Dad. It is such a difficult thing to go through. We wish that we could be there with you today, but unfortunately our Dad's service is occuring about the same time. We will be thinking of you today. We hope to be able to visit with you soon. We will call you to arrange it. May God's presence surround you today. With much love.

Dear Phyllis, Jimmy & Debbie, Paul, Brian & Audrey, & Scott - Having experienced the death of my Dad in April, 2006 and the very sudden and unexpected passing of my beloved husband Rich in January, 2007, I think that I know at least some of what you might be feeling right now. I can also tell you for sure from personal experience that God's Word is true: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they SHALL BE comforted". I pray that you will experience Him not only as your Savior & Lord, but also as the God of all comfort who grants you peace. Parker has left quite a legacy of success: in his talents, inventiveness, and passion for excellence. But the greatest legacy he left is that of his sons. You are four of the finest men I've ever met. Each of you is truly unique from your Dad and from each other, but all of you carry some of your Dad's(and Mom's)most excellent traits. I thank God when I think of you. I'm so happy to know that Parker is indeed in the presence of his Creator - the Creator of the Universe. I can only imagine what he is experiencing right now, but I think Psalm 16:11 gives us a glimpse: "You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand". Love & blessings to all of you.
