Alfred Lowman Obituary

Alfred (Al) Lowman, of Virginia Beach, passed away July 10, 2005 in Santa Barbara, Calif. after a lengthy illness. Born April 18, 1948 in Harrisonburg, Virginia to the late Clarence Paxton Lowman and Betty Lee Lowman, Al was educated at The University of Virginia and Thunderbird School of Business Management in Phoenix, Arizona where he received his MBA. Al went on to found his own literary agency, Authors and Artists Group based in New York City, where he represented many noted authors. Al is survived by his son, Christopher Lowman also of Santa Barbara, Calif.; his mother, Betty Lee Lowman of Virginia Beach; former wife, Gillian Arthur of New York City; his two brothers, Bruce Lowman of Franklin, Tennessee and Donald Lowman of Westport, Connecticut. A private graveside service will be held Saturday July 16, 2005. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.

I had not seen Al since about 1994, in New York. I knew him through a friend and we got to know each other somewhat as well. I had shown him some story ideas and was now getting to wanting to talk to him seriously about it, and now i see he passed, jeez, almost twenty years ago. Nice man. I liked him. RIP.
